My Brother-in-Law is running for local Elected Office.
Low and Behold, even though I don't live in the same state as him, and his policys have no effect on me, I have no interest in seeing him in public office. We have nothing in common and when we talk about politics, it lasts for hours on end and we disagree about everything. He's a Neo-Con (Borderline Fascist), who blindly walks the Republican party line. I'm pretty sure all of the opinions that he has, come directly from the O'reilly Factor!
Even though, if he wins the election, it will have no political effects on my life, It will still affect me in other ways!!
Every time I go back to visit michigan, or one of the family members comes to visit my wife and me in Baltimore, I'm going to hear about my "political know-it-all, brother-in-law, The Politician!!" To be perfectly honest with you, if I have to hear people refering to him as a political expert because of this, It will make me vomit!!!
These past few weeks, I posed several questions about his platform, to him, on his facebook group, and made comments on a article about him on the local newspapers websites. It's true, they were loaded questions aimed at showing people (and him) that he is not truly suited for public office. But, all of the information that I provided was fully accurate and I took special care not to attack his character, values, or family (I stuck with the issues!).
Unfortunately, any and all questions I have posed were deleted from his facebook page. I normally wouldn't care, but, it's upsetting that he didn't at least try to answer some of the questions! (He could have at least attempted to talk his way around the questions, like a real politician would).
Last night, his wife (My sister-in-law) called me up Demanding that I take down the posts that I made on the newspaper's website. I was very reluctant, but after she spent 15 minutes berating my character and calling me a horrible person. I decided to remove the posts. I removed the posts because I wanted to avoid any family problems that would occur from this (I'm planning on taking a high road!).
I Did Not remove the posts because I felt that I was wrong to voice my dissaproval, I wasn't! nor did I remove them because my facts were wrong, they weren't! and I didn't feel that I was crossing any lines. Political dissent is a part of politics, and they should start getting used to it, regardless of personal relationships.
They have effectivly silenced my voice of dissent by using deceitful expunging tactics, and slandering my character.
What A Proud Day For Democracy!!!
